Our School Day

Curriculum

Learning at CPSC is active and hands-on, with academics and the arts interwoven in an authentic, real-world way. North Carolina’s standard statewide curriculum—the Common Core State and NC Essential Standards—is richly expanded by our talented faculty and members of our school community.

School isn't just about academics. We also build a school culture that emphasizes inclusion, respect and empathy. We educate and nurture the whole child.

Community Building

Responsive Classroom

Our teachers use Responsive Classroom techniques to build community within the classroom and make sure each student feels valued.

Peaceful Schools

We also teach and practice peaceful ways to resolve conflicts. Students learn strategies to control themselves and stand up for others.

School Hours

Our school day is 8:30 am to 3:16 pm. Carline dropoff starts at 8:10 am. Students arriving before that time MUST be escorted into the building by an adult, and signed in!

All School Recess

The entire elementary school goes out for recess together in the middle of the day. It's more than just play — it's a hands-on lab where children learn how to get along with others. Be sure your child is dressed for the weather and prepared for mud!

After-School & Before-School

Our After-School Program operates from dismissal until 6pm. PAID before-school care starts at 7:15am; FREE before-school care starts at 7:45am. See Parent Resources for complete details.
